Premiered in Edinburgh last autumn as a work in progress\, this production recounts the adventures of Anne Wood as she sets forth on an unforgettable voyage from the Scottish Highlands to the Himalayas. Inspired by Anne’s true story\, this tender\, surprising and heart-opening show summons majestic mountains\, mesmerising sounds and mouth-watering tastes. \nThis blend of Scottish/South Asian influenced music\, storytelling\, and striking visual images is composed and musically directed by Scottish violinist Anne Wood (The Raincoats\, Kathryn Tickell\, Savourna Stevenson\, Feis Rois\, Deacon Blue\, Michael Marra) and co-directed by Kath Burlinson (Mairi Campbell: Pulse and Auld Lang Syne) and Niloo-Far Khan (Play\, Pie\, Pint; Grid Iron/EIF; NTS). SUMMARY:When Mountains Meet
DESCRIPTION:Rick will be performing in the premiere performance of ‘When Mountains Meet’ at the Scottish International Storytelling Festival. This Pakistani/Scottish project involving storytelling\, theatre and music has been in development since 2021. \nInspired by Anne Wood’s true story and 75 years after the creation of Pakistan\, a live band plus storytellers and singers celebrate cultural diversity and difference in this tender\, surprising and heart-opening show\, summoning majestic mountains\, mesmerising sounds and mouth-watering tastes. \nThis is a work-in-progress performance. We will be hosting a short\, facilitated feedback session after both performances to which all are welcome. \nWe aim to offer a relaxed environment. The seating is cabaret-style and our audience is free to come and go. A quiet space will also be available. The performance on Friday 28th October will be BSL interpreted by Yvonne Wadell.
